Sales Manager

Job Overview: Working exclusively with our client, a leading global developer and supplier of sustainable chemical materials and products, we are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to support and drive continued business growth.

 

Remit:  

  • This position will suit an experienced Sales / Business Development professional with a strong background in plastic commodity sales, in particular Copolyesters

  • The ideal candidate will ideally have a BSc or BA Degree in Chemical Engineering / Polymer Science and / or International Business / Marketing

 

Role:

  • As Sales Manager you will contact customers regularly via telephone, e-mail, letters and in person to ascertain their needs and to keep business and information flowing smoothly
  • In the role of Sales Manager, you will liaise between customers and customer service staff members by following up on past-due accounts to ensure all collections are completed
  • The successful Sales Manager will provide price quotations, proposals, and credit terms to current and prospective customers
  • The Sales Manager’s responsibility is to visit current and prospective customers to make product presentations
  • The successful Sales Manager will drive the marketing and sales of TPEE (Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer) to producers of foam, film, cable, consumer packaging and compounders
  • Market development of new applications such as premium packaging, films, automotive products etc
  • Monitor customer order patterns and follow up with customers on irregularities or missed orders or to reactivate inactive accounts
  • Identify customer needs or problems in a timely manner
  • Research and propose solutions to customer problems and concerns
  • Attend trade shows and other events as necessary in order to increase the presence of the Company
  • Continually explore new ways to improve the Company’s image
  • Develop and implement sales plans and pricing strategies by negotiating with current and potential customers to close sales proposals
  • Coordinate all aspects of sales for the assigned region(s) and accounts
  • Participate in sales meetings
  • Prepare sales reports for Management on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Coordinate all other aspects of sales operations including logistics and warehousing as necessary
  • Analyse sales trends, logistics trends, operating efficiency, product presentations, monthly financials, and best practices and make appropriate modifications in order to maximise profit
  • Use proactive sales methods including end-user customer presentations, telephone sales, and new business opportunities at trade shows and industry events

 

Experience:

  • BSc / BA Degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering / Polymer Science and / or International Business / Marketing
  • 10+ years’ experience of sales and business development within plastic commodities, chemicals and raw materials
  • A background in marketing and sales of TPEE (Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business documents, forms and instructions
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, staff, clients, and the general public
  • Ability to analyse and use various documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.)
  • Good understanding of regulations and procedures relating to international trade and logistics
