Mould Engineer

Job Overview:  Working with our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer we are looking for a Mould Engineer to join their team at a time of growth and business development.

Remit:

  • This role would suit a Process Engineer with a strong tooling and NPI background within injection moulding or compression moulding environments
  • The right candidate should have a background in injection moulding tooling, tool design, NPI project management, supplier liaison, and mould qualification within a manufacturing setting
  • This role would be a great opportunity for an injection moulding engineer with a tooling bias to join a forward-thinking and growing company that places strong importance on developing and training its staff
  • Having the flexibility for travel supporting the 3 x plant locations and some overseas design review travel to China

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee design of new moulds with suppliers and modify existing tooling based on product requirements
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mould construction
  • Prepare and manage technical documentation
  • Ensure all moulds meet company and industry quality standards
  • Lead tooling introduction projects (NPI, replacement, and optimisation) within a stage-gate process
  • Liaise with international and domestic toolmakers to review and refine tool designs for quality, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability
  • Contribute to mould qualification activities (DIOPQ, IQ/OQ/PQ) and shop-floor optimisation support
  • Support engineering in developing standard procedures and best practices for mould handling and tool introductions
  • Introduce new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and extend mould life
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, operations, and design teams to address defects or non-conformances
  • Contribute to training plans for production and maintenance teams on proper mould care and handling

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in low/high-pressure injection moulding and/or compression moulding
  • Proven experience with thermoplastic and/or thermosetting tooling processes
  • Strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and familiarity with PDM systems
  • Knowledge of mould flow simulation (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of materials science, machining processes, and mould manufacturing methods
  • Experience with structured tooling qualification processes (IQ/OQ/PQ/DIOPQ desirable)
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods (preferred).
