Tooling Academy Training Manager

Overview: Working with our client, a leading injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Tooling Academy Training Manager to join their team on an initial 12 month fixed term contract, in what is a new role for the business.

Remit:

  • This position will suit an experienced toolmaking professional with strong engineering background and experience in delivering training to others

  • The successful Tooling Academy Training Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the company’s Tooling Academy as they look to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled Toolmakers for the future

 

Role:

  • As Tooling Academy Training Manager you will be responsible for assessing training needs; working with external partners to conduct thorough skills gap analyses within the toolmaking workforce through job analysis, knowledge and skills assessments and consultations with managers
  • In the role of Tooling Academy Training Manager you will develop training programmes; Design and develop training curricula, workshops, and materials tailored to the specific needs of toolmaking processes and technologies with a focus on accelerating development through experiential learning
  • Implement Training: Coordinate and deliver training to toolmakers and apprentices, ensuring training is engaging and effective, and assess competence against consistent and agreed standards. Identify and engage third-party providers for training which cannot be delivered internally
  • Evaluate Effectiveness: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes
  • Budget Management: Manage the training budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient use of resources
  • Compliance: Ensure all training programmes comply with relevant policies, laws, regulations and audit requirements
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest training methods and techniques, incorporating them into training
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other RWC L&D professionals and managers to address specific training needs and develop strategies that align with overall business objectives
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor employee performance and response to training, providing feedback and support, and escalating as needed

 

Experience Requirements:

  • MUST HAVE relevant Engineering qualification
  • Practical experience in toolmaking and engineering
  • Experience of organizing, designing and delivering training, preferably within manufacturing or toolmaking
  • Level 3 Award in Education (formerly PTLLS) is desirable
  • Practical Engineering hand skills for marking measuring, cutting, filing and polishing
  • Manual Machining skills; turning, milling, drilling and grinding
  • Strong understanding of learning and development methods
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good organisational skills
