Our client, a successful injection moulding manufacturer, has retained our services to search for a Toolmaker to join their team following a period of investment and growth.


  • Reporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, the successful Toolmaker will carry out the servicing, repair and cleaning of mould tools within the toolroom / moulding environment – you will not manufacture new tooling
  • The Toolmaker will service / clean mould tools for medical devices during concept to manufacture
  • There are 80+ moulding machines on site from 50t to 250t primarily single polymer but some complex two shot
  • The primary machine of choice is Fanuc, but there is a suite of recent Engel machines incorporating process monitoring systems and bespoke automation packages
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join a business who have enjoyed lots of of investment over the last 18 months, including new manufacturing cells and new machines. The Toolmaker position is available due to the expansion of the Toolroom, allowing further growth in that area.


  • The Toolmaker will work alongside toolmakers and investigate / trouble shoot process related issues in production / development tool to gain knowledge on all aspects of mould tool operation and servicing
  • You will provide reports where necessary on tool findings, conforming to company standards
  • You should be a team player with excellent communication, presentation and negotiations skills, as close liaison with tool room, quality and production departments where necessary, are required.
  • The Toolmaker is expected to use strong organisational skills demonstrated with time Management and to complete activities alongside production

Experience requirements:

  • Degree educated in a science or engineering subject. ONC/ HNC
  • Time served Toolmaker (preferably Medical sector)
  • Proven experience within injection mould Tooling – handling / servicing
  • Good understanding in validation process for mould tools
  • Experience of steel machining process linked to the manufacture of mould tools / injection moulding
  • Experience of customer interface
  • Knowledge of ISO13485:2003 and ISO9001:2000 is preferred
  • Good understanding of component drawings
  • A good grasp of mould tooling theory would be advantageous
  • You should be able to use and understand documentation and procedures for the highly regulated medical market
