Purchasing Manager

Overview: Working exclusively with our client, an established and expanding injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to support continued business growth.

Remit:

  • This position will suit an experienced Purchasing professional with strong working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems
  • A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager to take ownership of the Purchasing Department of a forward-thinking company going through a period of sustained business growth
  • The successful Purchasing Manager will lead the purchasing requirements of the business, building relationships with suppliers to strengthen supplier quality, delivery performance, cost savings and compliance

 

Role:

  • In the role of Purchasing Manager you will lead the purchasing requirements of the business, ensuring that prices are continuously monitored and negotiated with suppliers maintaining regular contract reviews
  • As Purchasing Manager, you will source and procure raw materials including polymers, rubber compounds, additives, colourants, assembly components, consumables, maintenance spend and masterbatch
  • The successful purchasing Manager will be responsible for negotiating pricing, contracts, payment terms and supply agreements
  • Ensure materials are available to support production schedules while maintaining optimum inventory levels
  • Work with suppliers to improve value without compromising quality
  • Raise and approve purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
  • Support forecasting and material requirements planning
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and resolve supply issues promptly
  • Implementing and leading the SOP process to ensure forecast demand is managed in production and communicated to internal stakeholders
  • Building good working relationships with suppliers and continuing to negotiate supplier prices to secure the best possible outcome for the company
  • Maintain constant flow of communication between purchasing and other parts of the business the impact on price to ensure that up to date costing is readily available
  • Take ownership of MRP /ERP purchasing parameters (lead times, reorder points, contingency stocks etc) and ensure master data accuracy
  • Support new product introduction by sourcing materials and suppliers
  • Maintain supplier documentation including certifications and compliance records
  • Ensure suppliers meet environmental and sustainability requirements

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrable Purchasing / Procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of MRP / ERP systems
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing supplier performance and cost reduction programmes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills which are clear and persuasive
  • CIPS qualification an advantage
  • Experience within an injection moulding / plastics manufacturing environment an advantage
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques and methodologies
  • Knowledge of interpreting and compiling Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s) an advantage
  • Proactive self-starter that looks for opportunities for continuous improvement
