Cost Estimator
Overview: Working alongside our client, a leading 1st tier automotive supplier & manufacturer, we are looking for an experienced Cost Engineer to join their team.
Remit:
- As a Cost Estimator you will work closely with the technical team to estimate costs for new paint enquiries and ensure all aspects of the painting process are accurately accounted for
- This position would suit an experienced Cost Engineer with previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of automotive painting processes
Role:
- Create internal cost estimations for new paint enquiries
- Analysing technical specifications and ensuring that all costs associated with the painting process are accurately accounted for
- Liaise with paint suppliers to obtain unit costs
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and stay informed on changes in pricing, discounts and delivery timelines
- Calculate paint costs based on unit costs and product surface area
- Estimate secondary costs such as scrap, rework, and polish
- Present cost estimates to the Commercial Department for review
- In collaboration with the commercial and technical teams, you will play a role in identifying areas where costs can be reduced or optimized
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in costing manufactured products is essential
- Previous experience in cost estimation or a similar role
- Knowledge of automotive painting processes is preferable but not essential
- A background in working with suppliers and cost analysis
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
