Design Engineer

Overview: Further to a successful campaign of business growth, we are working closely with one of our manufacturing partners to appoint a Design Engineer with experience in 3D CAD to be developed within tooling & product design.

Remit:

  • Exciting opportunity for a Graduate Design Engineer to work closely with design, production, & commercial delivery departments to provide technical expertise with the company’s product & tooling manufacturing capabilities

Role:

  • In the role of Design Engineer you will work within the Design Team on customer projects with a focus on design for manufacture and tool design
  • As Design Engineer you will complete part drawings from CAD, including CAD created by the rest of the team
  • Carry out DFM on components
  • Reverse engineering existing components
  • Liaise with customers on part DFM and design requirements
  • Update existing injection mould tools in keeping with the latest standards focusing on automation
  • Support and manage design projects from conception through to manufacture
  • Working on projects across a wide range of industry sectors including Medical, Policing & Public Services, Cosmetics, Automotive, Household and MoD
  • Work collaboratively with other departments within the company throughout the development and manufacturing processes
  • Act as technical resource for new design and modification concepts
  • Support the Design team in written and verbal communications both internally and externally
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities

 

Experience Requirements:

  • HND OR Degree in a relevant Design discipline OR equivalent qualification OR a Design Engineer with 1-2 years experience within product or industrial design
  • Proven track record of design / engineering capability (either qualifications and / or portfolio)
  • Proficiency on 3D CAD
  • Experience with Solidworks, Fusion 360, Pro-E, Solidedge an advantage (company use Solidworks and Fusion 360 with full training provided)
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate both internally and externally
  • Desire to progress and take on more responsibility
  • Versatile with the ability to adapt to changing requirements
