The Client:

A privately owned, family founded chemical distribution company, going through a period of substantial growth.
The business offer a wide range of products and are proud to be associated with many of the worlds leading petrochemical producers, with strong relationships, spanning many decades.
A wide and varied customer industry base, which includes toiletries and cosmetics, pharmaceutical, contract packing, cleaning, surface coatings and chemical manufacturing.
Due to their success and expansion, the company are now looking for a Business Unit Manager – industrial solvents – to drive and manage sales for this core segment of the organisation.

The Role:

· Establish and maintain relationships with customers by partnering with them to understand their needs
· Increase visibility, penetration and sales success with new and existing clients.
· Deliver strategic commercial objectives in terms of growth, EBITDA and margin return.
· Alongside the Commercial Director, continually develop and improve the sales strategy for the business, with specific emphasis on value, profitability and growth.
· Work with field sales team to identify and grow turnover with existing businesses, whilst building longer term relationships and improving contractual positions.
· Improvement of sales and business processes, by providing data driven direction to the operating units and the new product development projects.
· Lead, motivate and inspire the Sales functions whilst delivering ‘best practice’ commercial processes and building both individual and business capabilities.
· Responsible for the clear communication of the strategy to the field sales team.
· Be knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the organisation.
· Assess areas for growth and provide reports to SMT on opportunities / threats within the market(s)
· Investigate and resolve customer complaints and incident reports and provide appropriate corrective strategies and processes
· Responsible for organising the submission and execution of forecasts
· Ensure smooth flow of products in/ out of site with purchasing and operations functions
· Direct the activities of the sales function as appropriate, to reflect the needs of the business
· Oversee the training, coaching and recruitment of employees within the function
· Provide market analysis on areas on innovation
· Provide sales figure reporting to SMT

Key Skills:

· A dynamic and driven Sales leader
· Extensive commercial experience gained within a speciality chemicals manufacturing or distribution business
· Experience of supply chain and customer/supplier interfacing.
· Degree educated or relevant work-related experience with technical products
· Driven and charismatic professional and a positive, effective and motivational leader.
· Proven track record in developing strategies, implementing and driving plans and managing budgets.
· Able to communicate professionally and develop strategic relationships within a client base
· Inclusive communication style to motivate and deliver clear, effective messages across at all levels
· Practical/proactive problem solver and flexible to support a dynamic, customer driven business.
· Personal skills including: results oriented, Strategic thinker, Strong Negotiation Skills, Persuasive, Decision maker, Innovative & Team player.
· Tenacious, thorough, Determined, energetic and driven with attention to detail
