Hours: 24-(3 days)
Sites: Spain manufacturing site (approx. 70-80 employees)
Overview:
A leading plastics manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the people agenda at its Spanish manufacturing site.
This position plays a key role in ensuring effective collaboration between site leadership and the wider European HR function. The HR Manager will act as a trusted business partner to the site leadership team, ensuring that people strategy, employee engagement and HR processes support operational performance and long-term organisational growth.
The role requires a forward-thinking HR professional who champions modern HR practices, drives employee retention initiatives and ensures corporate HR policies are effectively implemented at site level.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Business Partnering:
· Act as the primary HR partner to the Spanish site leadership team, supporting operational and strategic objectives.
· Provide guidance and insight on workforce planning, organisational development and people strategy.
· Contribute to leadership discussions around productivity, engagement and workforce capability.
Employee Engagement & Retention:
· Lead initiatives designed to improve employee retention, engagement and organisational culture within the manufacturing environment.
· Analyse workforce trends, employee feedback and HR data to identify areas for improvement.
· Implement initiatives that strengthen employer reputation and support talent retention.
HR Operations & Compliance:
· Ensure all HR policies and procedures are implemented consistently in line with corporate standards and local legislation.
· Preparation of all employment contracts, documentation and supporting processes.
· Cascade and embed corporate HR policies and frameworks across the Spanish site.
· Responsible Person for Works Council and maintaining compliance with local labour regulations in Spain, including in person negotiations and compliance documentation.
· Management of complete employee life cycle from recruitment to termination.
· Absence management
· Annual performance review management, including talent management.
Training & Development:
Create an annual training plan & budget
· Organise external trainings and provide HR relates trainings to managers on changes in legislation or internal policies
· Reporting on training attendance and completion
· 2026 – Implementation of new Learning Management System
Payroll:
· Maintain monthly data, including hours, allowances, incentives, absences, pension
· Provide monthly data to 3rd party payroll provider for processing
· Provide payment files to Treasury for payments
· Processing of employee benefits e.g. company cars
International Collaboration:
· Work closely with the HR Director Southern/Western Europe and wider European HR team to align local HR practices with regional strategy.
· Support the rollout of regional HR initiatives, systems and processes.
· Participate in regional HR projects where appropriate.
· Attend and participate in two annual in person European HR Conferences (locations could include Belgium, France, UK, Poland, Spain or Croatia)
Change & Process Improvement:
· Champion modern HR processes and digital HR practices.
· Support organisational change initiatives, including structural changes, leadership development and workforce transformation.
· Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, reporting and internal processes.
Candidate Profile:
Experience:
· Proven HR leadership experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
· Demonstrated experience supporting site leadership teams in operational environments.
· Experience working within international or matrix organisations.
· Knowledge of Spanish employment frameworks and law essential
Skills & Competencies:
· Strong business partnering capability with the ability to influence senior operational leaders.
· Collaborative and pragmatic approach to HR leadership.
· Strong focus on employee engagement and retention strategies.
· Ability to implement and cascade corporate HR policies and initiatives effectively.
· Experience mentoring or managing HR team members.
· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Personal Attributes:
· Forward-thinking and open to modern HR practices.
· Highly collaborative and relationship-oriented.
· Commercially aware with a strong understanding of operational environments.
· Credible, confident communicator able to work across different cultures and organisational levels.
Education & Languages:
· Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent demonstratable experience.
· Professional HR certification is advantageous.
· Fluent Spanish and strong English language skills are essential.
