Client Overview:
A world leader in specialty coatings and treatments for flexible substrates, whose products add functionality, durability and comfort to many different products, used in everyday life.
At the forefront of their industry and strategically located in Europe, North- and South America and the Far East: world-wide, the business has 16 production facilities and numerous application laboratories.
Role Overview:
The Sustainability Manager will be the business partner for the Performance Coatings Business Unit, embedding sustainability into the organization. This commercially oriented role focuses on communication, messaging, portfolio alignment, and supporting our narrative with validated sustainability data.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver training programs to enhance knowledge of key ESG concepts and initiatives.
· Act as the spokesperson for sustainability within the Performance Coatings business, advocating on behalf of the business.
· Define key pillars, value drivers, and priorities for ESG and sustainability within the Performance Coatings business.
· Establish partnerships with customers, brands, and institutes to promote understanding of our solutions and advocate for the best market solutions.
· Lead sustainability messaging to strategic customers and educate the Performance Coatings organization to do the same. Engage proactively in customer interactions, including visits, conferences, webinars, and audits.
· Align business positioning and messaging with the market, working closely with segment managers.
· Represent business in relevant trade or voluntary associations (e.g., Bluesign, ZDHC, FILK).
· Ensure alignment between Performance Coatings business activities and ESG team activities, including communication from Renewable Carbon Initiative working groups and scope 3 internal GHG emissions working groups.
· Drive scope 3 emissions reduction by aligning business strategy with procurement and R&D strategies.
Candidate Profile:
· Science-based university qualification or equivalent degree
· Minimum 10 years of related work in sales/commercial and ESG departments
· Business qualification or MBA is preferred
· Experience in the chemical industry is preferred
· Project management experience
· High level of presentation skills
· Ability to influence and develop relations with your business partners while being remote
· Experience with change management
· Open to travel 20-25% of working time
· Strong communication skills in English
