Client Overview:
Listgrove is delighted to be supporting Decathlon in recruiting a Plastics Materials Strategic Buyer with extensive experience in the plastics arena.
Within the Decathlon Group, the Sports & Value Chain divisions bring together their Product design, conception and industrial activities as well as their Supply Chain domain.
The organization is structured around high-profile brands well known to the customers (Domyos, Quechua, BTWIN, etc.) as well as other international brands grouped together into integrated Sports Business Units and working hand in hand with Decathlon’s Industrial Process division, supporting their technological and sustainable innovation capabilities.
The activities represented within Sports & Value Chain range from the design to the marketing of all Sports products, services and solutions.
Role Overview:
· Manage the trajectory to multiply by 6 the use of sustainable material plastic by 2030
· Develop a worldwide material panel to supply locally the transformation of the material
· Build strong partnerships with new and existing suppliers to guarantee the best sustainable procurement condition (Price, Availability, Quality, Carbon footprint, Traceability)
· Build the network to boost the circular economy
· Alignment with the plastic products buyers
· Manage the negotiation to obtain fair price to guarantee the competitivity of our product Manage the contractual stakes to protect our innovations & legal regulation.
Responsibilities:
The Strategic Buyer is a worldwide business partner acting for sustainable & innovative industrial transformation:
· Data driver, he contributes to the financial & extra financial stakes of the company.
· Risk manager, he guarantees value creation and integrity.
· Change leader, he makes Decathlon a preferred customer of key suppliers.
Build and Manage 5 years material purchase strategy based on a supplier panel answering the company challenges (availability, sustainable development, performance/innovation).
· You ensure resilient purchasing strategy based on a deep risk management methodology
· You know the entire value chain (finished goods, components, raw materials, tools, machine, services) to promote agility, ensure integrity, and develop circularity.
· You project a 5 years business plan of your purchasing category
· You set up a relevant “positive influence” within the right network (internal & external), developing company desirability, supporting investments strategies.
Drive business evolution of the sustainable plastic material in a sustainable and risks anticipation mindset
· You break down & capitalize the entire value chain (materials, components, finished goods, tools, machine, services) to promote agility, ensure integrity, develop circularity and become autonomous on material.
· You influence macro-sharing business through decisions based on eTCO tool & risk management You build your Worldwide production capacities according to your 5 years business plan and take suitable decisions
· You are the worldwide cost & pricing referent: You develop the Industrial Costing Model on your perimeter
· You anticipate the future innovations & tech revolutions
Build & lead a sustainable panel to support Decathlon’s evolution
· You lead global sourcing activities, suppliers scouting to strengthen our Industrial ecosystem with game changers technologies
· You build worldwide panel according to the Custom Zone needs & design industrial alliances with best partners for offer ability
· You lead nearshoring activities to secure our global value chain and develop circularity
· You set up alliances to master sorting and recycling solutions for core raw material and enable their usage in tomorrow’s products
· You guarantee the transformation of Sustainable Development plan by leading the decarbonation trajectory
· You create the condition to become the preferred customer of our best of breed
· You coordinate cross-functional management with internal stakeholders according to the corporate & legal playing field.
Collect, analyze, generalize the right usage of data up to the materials in order to guarantee the performance (establish our trajectories, share precise forecasts and to make decisions more factual):
· You manage your digital environment (market intelligence, risk management, sustainability, purchase tools)
· You collect internal and external data for performance management
· You conduct ANALYSIS for short (descriptive), middle (predictive) and long term (prescriptive) horizons
· You DRIVE decisions by identifying important data and building pertinent dashboards to capitalize them
Enable and align with Decathlon circularity strategies
· You align your panel strategies considering business synergies linked to the collect, second hand and EPR strategies
· You collaborate with Circularity Leaders
Candidate Profile:
· Master’s degree
· Minimum of 5 years in the industry, with at least 3 years focused on business development or purchasing roles. A history of working with material producers or distributors, preferably with successful international experience.
· Extensive experience within the plastic material sector is required with the capability to analyze industrial markets, manage risks, source suppliers, and negotiate contracts.
· Knowledge on plastic process (injection, blowing, …)
· Recognized leadership and the ability to work effectively in a complex environment are crucial. Curiosity, visionary thinking, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to influence and challenge are also key attributes.
· Proficiency in English is compulsory.
