R&D Engineer – Flexibles

Reports to: R&D Manger Italy

Purpose of the Position:

To collaborate with the Business Team Flexibles and lead R&D activities to improve the product portfolio and meet the strategic targets. To ensure high level collaboration within Ti’s R&D team.


· Provide R&D expertise and guidance to develop, optimize, validate, and execute projects.
· Ensure that project targets are achieved, timelines and budgets are respected as agreed with the R&D Manager Italy and Head of BT
· Work closely with Business Team to understand and monitor competitive landscape and to define customers’ needs.
· Support the R&D Manager Italy to define the technical strategy to accomplish the selected targets.
· Contribute to and implement Ti’s R&D policy and Intellectual Property strategy.
· Manage timely pursuance of development projects across all the European sites in coordination with the local teams in other regions.
· Provide regional support for Global Projects
· Work closely together with corresponding R&D and Business Teams of other regions to fast-track solution finding, rationalize development work and make best possible use of group resources (laboratory capabilities, pilot line etc.)
· Participate in business development activities.
· In coordination with Technical Service, promotes and pursues cooperation with customers, suppliers of conversion machines and inks and other external partners.
· Design and advise team members in designing new products including selection and approval of suitable raw materials in close alignment with the plant and the whole R&D team, considering safety and regulatory concerns.
· Plan and evaluate pilot and plant trials.
· Organize and ensure appropriate documentation of trial results in close alignment with the methods established by the local R&D team.
· Monitor the development of competitor technologies and contribute to securing the protection of Ti’s intellectual property.
· Collaborate closely with company’s internal entities (for example, additive and compound supplier (Edhaf)) with regards to qualifying, improving, and developing products, ensuring that the company has the most technically and economically competitive solutions available.
· Provide dedicated training to others involved with the company organisation.
· Undertake to respect and implement the Quality Policy when pursuing and meeting the objectives defined by the company.
· Collaborate and undertake to maintain the standards linked to the Integrated Management Systems and to raise awareness of them among her colleagues.
· Comply with the standards linked to the integrated management systems and actively works towards maintaining and respecting said standards, taking part in training/refresher courses organised by the company.
· In order to ensure flexibility in the workplace, this employee may carry out other activities, if requested by her superiors and following appropriate training and/or instructions

External: Other company sites, Agents, Customers, Suppliers, Consultants
