The Company:

Our client is part of a global network of companies manufacturing thermoplastic compounds from sites around the world. The company has exciting growth plans to further develop its European presence and the technical team is being expanded to help the business fulfill these ambitious objectives.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

· To support colleagues in the delivery of product development and product modification projects.
· To support product qualification and approval programmes where appropriate
· Plan and manage development activities according to the requirements of the Technical Department.
· To ensure good communication with and appropriate involvement of European R&D, Technical Support, Commercial and Procurement teams.
· To provide an analytical service and support
· Investigate causes of material failure and report findings to colleagues and customers.
· Coordinate with external test laboratories and universities to specify test programs.
· Coordinate with equipment suppliers to maintain test equipment and keep abreast of developments.
· Identify, specify, select and commission relevant new test equipment to expand the capability of the R&D Laboratory.
· Train Technical colleagues on some basic analysis test methods.
· Support customer requests for IMDS (material datasheets)
· Support the colourist in sourcing colour masterbatches/pigments and setting colour tolerances to ensure customer specifications are met.
· Provide support and advice to colleagues to ensure compliance with chemical and environmental regulations covering raw materials and products.

Person Profile:

· Degree in Chemistry, preferably with a bias towards polymers
· Proven experience in a laboratory environment.
· Specific knowledge in the analysis of polymers and additives (DSC, IR, TGA etc)
· Good understanding of the behaviour and structure of polymers.
· Experience of polymer development (formulating composites or compounds)
· Experience of product development in an R&D environment.
· Experience of working in manufacturing (preferably polymer industry)
