Purpose of position:

Leads the Personal Care Team DACH, based in Hamburg.
Full responsibility for local targets.
Manages key customers and key suppliers, supported by the sales and PM team, consisting of 5 other members.
Be responsible for the development of the Personal Care Division and its sales strategy.
Accountable for the overall sales processes and process improvements, including CRM, customer segmentation, and online sales platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Takes full accountability for the Personal Care business in the DACH region (sales, margin, cost, budgeting)
Supports the sales teams towards more effectiveness and efficiency through sales process optimization, a clear sales strategy and success story sharing.
Business Development growth in skin care, sun care and other market sectors.
Set and achieve the agreed budget
Manage key DACH customers and suppliers
Relationship and trust built with customers and suppliers
Works with customers to understand their needs and requirements.
Sets up customer segmentation and service level definition accordingly (“sales tactics”)
Actively works on transparent, reliable customer communication.
Creates clarity for the sales team on customer prioritization and services.
Builds/helps build long-term customer relationships.

With a wider involvement as part of the European Management Team, working within a matrix organization:

Supports the Group Business Director in new sales and territory strategy development (key growth areas)
Development of key growth areas in line with the company strategy and board expectations.
Supports selling through making best use of the company’s value proposition.
Together with Marketing, develops training and communication material for sales.
Ensures focused growth in the agreed strategic focus markets.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in natural sciences, chemistry or cosmetics
Minimum 10 years working experience in sales roles in the chemical or materials industry
Proficient in all relevant sales topics
Strong commercial acumen and skills
Ideally good technical and regulatory understanding
Knowledge of the personal care market would be advantageous

Leadership skills with the ability to set and prioritize goals.
Inspires customers, team and stakeholders
Excellent team worker
Willingness to travel (30-50%)

Languages:

English. German essential and ability in French, Italian are a plus
