The Company:

Our client is a global leader in the manufacture of high-performance coatings supplying OEMs and national brand customers. The company is looking for a highly capable and ambitious operations manager as part of a succession plan for a future director level appointment.

Primary role:

· Run the site efficiently and safely
· Implement a waste reduction strategy
· Reduce downtime, improve efficiency

Role & Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement a waste reduction strategy
· Analyse current work-flow and reduce downtime
· Improve machine utilisation and production efficiency
· Work with and through the managers to motivate staff
· Driving the business to increase profits by reducing costs and waste
· Plan for future business development impacting current capacity/manning levels
· Work safely at all times
· Interpret and adapt to the needs of other departments
· Build professional relationships with staff, suppliers and some key customers where relevant to the role i.e. custom manufacture
· Ensuring financial targets and other agreed targets are met in all departments
· Reviewing working practices to ascertain if it is successful and if not, devise an alternative improved method/system
· Keeping employees motivated and organising appropriate training whenever required
· Ensuring the business operates within the company’s mission statement
· Investigating customer satisfaction and reporting any issues
· Working with legal support on any matters that occur
· Reviewing and forwarding for Board approval all CapEx equipment investments

Person Profile:

· Educated to degree level or equivalent
· A detailed working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen
· Time-served professional working within multi-asset manufacturing processes
· Positive people manager who leads by example, encouraging and valuing staff for their contribution
· Manager of change by communicating vision and getting people involved
· Strong ambassador of a health & safety culture
· Sets high standards for quality and ensure processes are in place to deliver expectations
