Company Overview:

A leading supplier of recycled plastic materials and is involved in collecting and processing plastic waste in several countries. With global reach and expertise, they have boosted recycling rates in many countries and strive to rapidly grow capabilities in the next few years.

Role Overview:

We seek a skilled and experienced Business Development Manager, with existing experience in the plastic industry. The business development manager will drive sales growth, expand customer base and identify new opportunities.

1. New Business Development:

  • Identify opportunities, market segments, and target clients to generate new leads.
  • Conduct market analysis to understand customer needs, market trends, and competitors.
  • Develop and implement strategies to penetrate new markets, expand the customer base, and grow revenue.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects, track sales activities in our CRM system, and follow up on leads.
  • Moving clients through the pipeline to close deals.

2. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with key clients, understanding their business objectives and providing solutions that meet their needs.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, including negotiations to secure deals for steady supply and longer-term contracts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective delivery of products or services to clients and maintain client satisfaction.

3. Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute business development plans aligned with the company’s objectives, target markets, and sales goals.
  • With support from the sales and marketing teams, analyse market trends, the competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify business opportunities and risks.
  • Identify areas for improvement and growth within the existing client base and develop strategies to maximize customer retention and upselling.

4. Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal marketing, procurement, and operations teams to align business development efforts with the company strategy.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition of new clients and successfully implement business agreements.

5. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare weekly sales reports and sales forecasts to evaluate business development efforts and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments that may impact business opportunities.
  • Use CRM software and other tools to maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and the sales pipeline.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proven track record of generating new business, achieving sales targets, and driving revenue growth within the plastics industry.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Understanding of market dynamics and industry trends and can translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PET plastics, including material properties, applications, manufacturing processes, and industry standards/requirements.
  • Self-motivated and result-driven, proactive in identifying and pursuing business opportunities.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Should enjoy working with technology and can adapt/learn new technology.
  • Should enjoy working within a remote entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-oriented.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to travel as required for client meetings and industry events.
