Development Engineer

Job Overview:  Working alongside our client, an established plastic packaging manufacturer, we are looking for a Development Engineer to join their team.

 

Role:

  • As a Development Engineer you will manage and assist in the development and engineering projects on site and provide second line support to the engineering team
  • The successful candidate will be a time served engineer, with an electrical bias and trained to an HNC/HND level

  • Days role, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
  • 33 days annual leave, including a shutdown at Christmas
  • Company sick pay up to 24 years (increasing with years of service)

Responsibilities:

  • To identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations to improve machine and process effectiveness
  • To assist in managing engineering projects from inception through to completion, including:
  • Writing equipment specifications
  • Managing all appropriate resources
  • Implementing and monitoring
  • Compliance with budgetary limitations
  • Effective hand over to production
  • To adhere to company Health and Safety requirements
  • This position is not solely office based and requires a hands-on approach

 

Requirements:

  • Time served Engineer, electrically bias and qualified to an HNC/HND level
  • Ideally, a good working knowledge of PLC and servo control systems
  • Understanding and ability to work with/troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Good computer skills, CAD systems, ideally Auto-Cad would be desirable
  • Have experience on installing and commissioning new pieces of equipment
  • Good understanding in all aspects of Health and Safety, including control of contractors
  • Proven ability to work and deliver to agreed timescales
  • Self-motivated and work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • The analytical ability to approach, manage and solve problems of varying levels of complexity
  • Good communication and organisational skills
