Senior Maintenance Engineer

Overview: Retained by our client, a leading injection moulding manufacturer of automotive components we are recruiting for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

Remit:

  • As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will lead the maintenance team to ensure that all machinery is checked, maintained and serviced to ensure continuous and safe running to reduce incidents and breakdowns
  • The successful Senior Maintenance Engineer will have experience working in a similar role, with working knowledge of injection moulding machines & automation

 

Role:

  • Be proactive in setting PPM schedules and organising the maintenance team on machine down-time projects for planned maintenance activities
  • Organise maintenance / servicing & commissioning jobs for the maintenance department staff
  • To undertake planned maintenance on designated equipment to maintain and improve production efficiency
  • Identify the root cause of breakdowns and faults on machinery
  • Perform safety checks and routine maintenance
  • Repair and replace defective parts as required
  • Implement continuous improvement activities
  • Ensuring that all staff are observing safety procedures and housekeeping processes
  • Ensure the planning and resourcing of staff, materials, technical support of day-to-day activities to meet the manufacturing demand
  • Ensure KPIs are being met
  • Regular reporting of status on all engineering activities such as machine breakdowns, non-breakdowns, preventative maintenance, projects, etc
  • Analyse regular failures and provide long term solutions
  • Provide support and expertise to projects requiring engineering input
  • Carry out day to day hands on activities to reduce plant downtime

Experience & Requirements:

  • Apprentice trained with a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Have previous working knowledge of injection moulding machines and automation
  • A good working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and electronic/electrical automation controls
  • People management experience is essential
  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques such as OEE,5s, Kaizen
  • Have a good awareness of health and safety in the workplace
  • Effective communication skills
  • Be highly self-motivated, demonstrate passion, and be a team player with a flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines.
