Field Service Engineer

Job Overview: We are currently recruiting an experienced Field Service Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading injection moulding machine manufacturer to join their established team.

Remit:

  • As a Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for installing new injection moulding machines to customer premises and carry out routine servicing and repairs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • This role will suit either current or previous experienced Service Engineers or Maintenance Engineers looking to move into a Service Engineer role, this role is home based with candidates preferably located in the Midlands

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install new injection moulding equipment at clients sites, ensuring proper setup and configuration according to manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to clients, troubleshooting issues with injection moulding machines, auxiliary equipment, and control systems
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, cleaning, and parts replacement, to ensure equipment reliability and longevity
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on injection moulding machinery, coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers for replacement parts and upgrades
  • Conduct training sessions for client personnel on the operation, maintenance, and safety procedures related to injection moulding equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, including service reports, parts inventory, and equipment history, using our internal systems
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of technical issues to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in injection moulding operations, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime
  • Maintaining and recording stock levels of spares as required
  • Reporting used stock to the Sales Administrator to ensure accurate invoicing of the customer

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Have previous working knowledge of injection moulding machines or plastic processing equipment
  • Experience of working with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Have a good awareness and understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace

 

Desirable Requirements:

  • Have ONC (or equivalent) in engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial electrics, maintenance engineering or related discipline
  • Experience of working with PLC controlled machinery
  • Counter balance, Overhead Crane certificates
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience of working in a similar maintenance role
  • Autonomy and  self disciplined in managing own project to completion within timeframe
