Project Manager (Plastic Extrusion)






Colloids Limited is one of the fastest growing brands in the plastics industry. Growing from £14mill to over £55mill over the last 15 years alone! Since 1967 Colloids has had an outstanding reputation for supplying high quality masterbatches / concentrates for use in the thermoplastics industry. We are a rapidly expanding manufacturing business with our main manufacturing plant and headquarters based in Merseyside, with additional plants in Rushden UK and China.



Reporting directly to the CEO as well as building infrastructure, you will be required to implement and manage chemical and process engineering projects on time and on budget. Identify, recommend and deliver process and optimisation projects on existing machinery projects, planning the work schedules against performance standards and optimising value for money. Identify and manage external contractors. Responsible for site infrastructure, which includes building construction as well as machinery.



Hours: 40 hours or to fit the needs of the business

Salary: Commensurate to the role

Location: Based at Knowsley industrial Estate, Liverpool, L33

Job Type: Permanent



  • Must have significant experience in executing industrial engineering projects and extensive experience of managing external contractors from design stage to implementation.
  • Ideally experience in process industries and working knowledge of pumps, conveyors, motors/drives, heating/cooling, hydraulics and extrusion etc
  • Ability to interact effectively with contractors to:
  • Identify most appropriate supplier
  • Scope work, review design, plan installation/commissioning and handover sign-off.
  • Extract maximum value from contracts
  • Able to effectively coordinate multiple projects and manage resources
  • Required to travel from time to time to other company locations
  • Able to generate CAPEX to budget and have the relevant experience



  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering competency – educated to minimum degree/HNC standard or equivalent with several years’ experience
  • Project Management skills such as Prince2 or Microsoft projects
  • Experience working in a fast-paced chemical process engineering environment
  • Working knowledge of CAD
  • Regulatory knowledge (statutory requirements/Permits/HS&E)
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Negotiation & reporting skills
  • IT literate
